TaylorEugene Field, located on the south side of Poplar Bluff, serves over 400 students and 40 staff members within the Poplar Bluff School District. Eugene Field is focused on utilizing student data to drive instructional planning, increasing student performance and attendance, and building leadership skills within staff and students. Eugene Field is a Professional Learning Community that goes the extra mile to provide multiple academic and behavior interventions. All students receive differentiated reading and math instruction to meet individualized needs. Eugene Field is a Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PBIS) school, which seeks to recognize positive student behavior, establish consistent building-wide expectations, and provide supports for students with diverse social, emotional and behavioral needs.

Eugene Field’s mission statement is, “Building leaders one student at a time.” Eugene Field was awarded the I Am a Leader Foundation grant in 2013 and is one of 86 Leader in Me schools in the state of Missouri. Eugene Field achieved Lighthouse School status at the end of 2016, an honor currently bestowed upon less than 250 schools nationwide. Through the Leader in Me initiative, all students engage in a variety of leadership activities centered on author Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” All students have the opportunity to serve on various leadership teams that match their interests and talents. Students set and track attendance, behavior, academic and personal goals in individualized data notebooks. Eugene Field engages families by hosting quarterly Parent Leadership Nights along with an annual Leadership Day that highlights how the seven habits and leadership principles are equipping all students with
21st century life skills.
