A law firm in Cape Girardeau cleared the Amazon wish list of a Eugene Field teacher as part of a $4,000 giveaway split among multiple schools, recently conducted over Facebook.
April Sandlin, who teaches third grade, was one of 16 educators out of over 100 entries across the region to be selected at random by Cook, Barkett, Ponder & Wolz to receive $250 worth of classroom supply items.
“It was an honor to be able to award 16 local educators items to help build their 2024/2025 classrooms,” stated partner J. Michael Ponder, reportedly. “The work that these individuals do to help mold the minds of our children is valuable and does not go unnoticed.”
Sandlin’s list was comprised of whiteboards and wipes, markers, highlighters, pens, erasers, construction paper and earphones, she said. Since the total value did not meet the threshold, she was given an Amazon gift card for the remainder.
She learned of the promotion from a mutual friend, Tiffany Jenkins, who helped spread the word in Poplar Bluff, where she operates J.Co Apparel & Promotions. While Sandlin was unable to make arrangements to travel to Cape, a law firm representative graciously hand-delivered the care package of supplies to her.
